Tonight, like every Friday evening,  we went to vespers at PIC.
A presentation was given by the Adventist Scouts. It was about 4 or 5 parables of Jesus.
It was nice, except for one thing.
The lady who presented the parable of the Ten Virgins said that the Five Wise Women (she never used the word virgins) were able to go to the wedding (while the foolish were not) because of OBEDIENCE. Huh?

My Bible says

Matt 25:7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8  And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9  But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10  And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11  Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12  But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

The reason why the foolish virgins can not enter is NOT disobedience! It is the lack of Holy Spirit which is represented by lack of oil in the parable.

The symbolism explained by this verse: 1Sam 16:13 says
Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

The parable says absolutely NOTHING about obedience or disobedience.
